Another day and another major announcement about the cast of DC and Warner Bros.’ Titans, the live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans that will premiere next year. Today, we learned who’ll play this iteration of the Titans’ leader, Dick Grayson — but we don’t know which hero he’ll be suiting up as.

If you’ve seen The Giver, Maleficent, or Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, then you’ve already gotten a chance to see actor Brenton Thwaites, Titans‘ Robin in action. Thwaites will star at the center of the new series as a young, the vigilante who becomes the galvanizing force that brings the Titans together.

Speaking with Deadline, DC Entertainment head Geoff Johns alluded to this version of Dick Grayson having already parted ways with Batman, but was cagey about whether he’ll still think of himself as Robin, or if he’ll be well on his way to adopting his Nightwing identity.

Said Johns:

“Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC universe, and it wasn’t easy to find him but we have. Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman’s former protégé and the Titans’ future leader. We’re extremely lucky he’s chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character.”

It would be very, very interesting to see Dick working through the process of discovering what kind of hero he wants to be immediately after leaving the Batcave behind in solo pursuit of his destiny. The most pressing question on my mind, though, is what kind of costume we should expect to see him wearing.

DC’s Titans premieres on its new streaming service next year.
