Mary Poppins isn’t the only one returning in Mary Poppins returns — so are Jane and Michael Banks, the young siblings from the original musical classic. They’re all grown up now with children of their own… and in some cases, as these new pictures show, some very questionable facial hair developments.

Although we’ve already seen a tease of Emily Blunt’s Mary Poppins, new images revealed by Entertainment Weekly today give us some new looks at Lin-Manuel Miranda’s lamplighter Jack, as well as the adult versions of Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael (Ben Whishaw, and separately, the ridiculous moustache attached to Ben Whishaw’s upper lip) from the original movie. We also glimpse the next generation of youngsters that will presumably be enchanted by Mary’s magical nanny skills.

It’s pretty much everything you’d expect from a Mary Poppins sequel, right down to charismatically endearing street urchins — although it’s still surprising just how colourful, almost garishly so in some manners, the costumes are in this movie. It really helps recapture some of the aesthetic of the original, beyond the period dress.

Head on over to the link below to see a few more images, as well as concept art from the film. Mary Poppins Returns is set to float via umbrella into theatres in December 2018.
