The Next X-Men Movie Could Take The Franchise To Space

John Boyega discusses Finn’s new place in the Resistance in The Last Jedi. The stars of Game of Thrones say there’ll be a quicker pace to the next season. Plus, early rumours for the next Justice League Dark director, and new Wonder Woman posters. To me, my spoilers!

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Producer Hutch Parker told Screen Rant it’s “definitely a possibility” Dark Phoenix could “go cosmic”. Which makes sense if you know anything about the comic book storyline, considering part of it involves Jean accidentally murdering a bunch of Shi’ar while under the Pheonix’s influence. But still, it’s nice to see the possibility being teased at least!

Ant-Man & The Wasp

Evangeline Lily has been fitted for the Wasp costume. Bear in mind the image below, which she shared online, is concept art from the first film, and not an indicator of what the character will wear in the new movie.

Also, Actor/rapper T.I. has confirmed to Black Film he’ll also be returning for the Ant-Man sequel.

Deadpool 2

Speaking of comedy sidekicks, T.J. Miller has confirmed his character, Weasel, is also returning for Deadpool 2 in an expanded role.

Marvel will cut off my hand and tongue if I tell you. But… let me just tell you that the second instalment will be even more weaselicious. Let me just put it that way, to quote Pauly Shore. I’m very excited about it. That starts in August and September. I’m so excited. I know it means so much to Ryan that it’s good, and for the writers, and for all of us actually. The first one did so well, people loved it so much. I think they really put the time in on the script. I’m just so excited.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, John Boyega revealed Finn has become a “big deal” in the resistance following the events of The Force Awakens.

The funny thing is, between VII and VIII, Finn’s now a big deal! He is now a big deal. Imagine that — you get taken down by Kylo Ren. Think about what the gossip’s going to be like in the Resistance. ‘Oh, that’s the guy that got slashed down by Kylo?’

New Mutants

Central Casting is looking to hire an extremely tall actor — between 6’9″ and 7’4″, and comfortable with wearing prosthetics — for an undisclosed Fox feature filming in Boston. Though the ad does not explicitly state its for New Mutants, there’s enough evidence to reasonably speculate this is a casting call for the Demon Bear, the main villain of the film.

Justice League Dark

Following the departure of Doug Liman, Warner Bros. is reportedly looking to hire Andres Muschietti, the director of the It remake.

Mission: Impossible 6

Director Christopher McQuarrie told Collider he’s pulling back on the franchise’s penchant for globetrotting:

I was determined, unlike the last movie, to spend more time in one location. I went back and I looked at the first movie, which started in Prague, and realised that they’re in Prague for the first half of the movie. So, I sort of pulled back a little bit on the globe-trotting. I think in Rogue Nation I think we might have been in six countries in the first ten minutes of the movie.

Wonder Woman

IMAX has a series of posters of the Amazons.

Spider-Man: The Animated Movie

The Miles Morales movie also has a poster at this year’s Licensing Expo, with a graffiti bent to it.

Game of Thrones

HBO has released a motion poster of the Night King.

In related news, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau told Entertainment Weekly he’s shocked by the uncharacteristically fast pacing of season seven.

I’m like, ‘Already? Now?! What?!’ I feel like I’d been lulled into a different pace. Everything happened quicker than I’m used to. … A lot of things that normally take a season now take one episode.

Kit Harington agrees:

This season is really different than any other season because it’s accelerating toward the end, a lot of stuff collides and happens much much quicker than you’re used to seeing on Thrones. … It’s so different than what everybody is used to. It’s quite exciting.

The Last Ship

Season four premieres in the US August 20 at 9:00PM ET. [TV Line]

Zoo

Finally, CBS has released a synopsis for the future-flung, chimera-ridden third season of Zoo.

In season three, the year is 2027, and the world has reached a tipping point: as the human population continues to dwindle due to the sterility problem, an equally devastating threat rises in the form of “the hybrids,” an army of unstoppable lab-made creatures, hell-bent on destroying mankind.
