Video: As is traditional for this show (so far), the third season of Outlander will (mostly) follow the third book in Diana Gabaldon’ series, Voyager. And this week, Starz gave us a glimpse of what that will look like thank to this new trailer. Spoiler alert: Pining, separation and sadness.

While season two did cover a little bit of what happened after a pregnant Claire (Catriona Balfe) returned to the 20th century — including Claire trying to tell her now 20-year-old daughter (Sophie Skelton) about her time travelling — this trailer focuses a fair bit on what happened in between.
There is a lot of Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) 18th-century, Scottish loneliness in this trailer. Claire, meanwhile, is shown raising Brianna — whose father, thanks to time travel, is Jamie — with Frank (Tobias Menzies) back in the mid-20th century. There are birthday parties, graduations and what look like hospital visits. It seems like Claire did what she had to for her daughter.
Outlander and its time travel headaches (and heartaches!) will return in the US in September. The first two seasons are currently available on Netflix.
