Star Wars: The Black Series Luke and Landspeeder
Just like Rey, Luke is getting his own fancy new speeder toy soon. The new 6″ figure of Luke in his Tatooine gear and bucket hat is actually inspired by a deleted scene from A New Hope, where Luke uses his binoculars to watch the Tantive IV’s fateful chase above his homeworld. Aside from the new figure, the $US60 ($79) set includes an in-scale version of the classic Landspeeder, accessories for Luke, and a stand to pose the speeder itself on like it’s floating above the ground. Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Star-Lord
Sometimes Hot Toys’ talented sculptors and artists flawlessly capture the likenesses of actors and their characters in the toymaker’s 30cm figures. Other times, like with this new Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, they get about 95 per cent of the way there. For somewhere north of $US200 ($264) you’re still getting a wonderfully detailed tiny version of Chris Pratt, but in addition to accessories like swappable heads and a tiny Walkman, most of us will probably be pre-ordering this one for the tiny version of Baby Groot. Star Wars Lifesize Inflatable First Order Stormtrooper
When you’ve got unlimited resources and funds like the Empire does, you can simply buy an army of clones to help fight your battles. The rest of us, who probably can’t afford to build three Death Stars, will instead have to settle for a small army of Takara Tomy’s new life-size inflatable First Order Stormtroopers. Available in mid-May for about $US140 ($185), they’re surprisingly detailed for being inflatable toys, but don’t expect them to last long in battle if the Rebels start carrying safety pins. Star Trek Enterprise Table Lamp
How many Star Trek references can you pack into a single table lamp? ThinkGeek boldly glows where no man has glowed before with this $US60 ($79) exclusive featuring a starfield shade, a USS Enterprise power cord pull, and a Starfleet insignia base. Instead of a warp core, the lamp is powered by a standard AC outlet, and it’s a bring-your-own-bulb affair. [ThinkGeek]
Hot Wheels Star Wars Biggs Darklighter Character Car
It’s one thing to have a car named after you, but having a car that looks like a character you played? That’s probably the greatest honour an actor could ever hope for. Garrick Hagon might not have an Oscar for his work on Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, but thanks to Star Wars fan voting, his character, Biggs Darklighter, is now immortalised as a Hot Wheels character car, complete with a mustache bumper on the front. It’s $US10 ($13), but only available to those attending Star Wars Celebration this week. Bummer.
Chibi Shin Godzilla
The Godzilla we saw in last year’s Shin Godzilla was by no means cute. In fact, it was one of the most horrifying, grotesque takes on the King of the Monsters there’s ever been. That doesn’t stop people from wanting to chibify the hell out of it though, as this weirdly cute figure from X-Plus shows. It’s not quite successful at making this Godzilla (and his freaky parasitic tail) look cute, but it’s definitely a unique take on the kaiju. The 5″ figurine will set you back $US70 ($93) when it hits shelves in Japan later this year. [Blastr]
