The President Of Iceland Wants To Ban Hawaiian Pizzas

We can add a new name to 2017’s roll call of terrible world leaders – if we can spell it – Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson, president of Iceland.

Jóhannesson was recently asked by a schoolchild how he feels about pineapple pizza toppings. Sure, the kid could have asked about the failure of the Icelandic banking system, how to deal with all the volcanoes, or even how to make sure people stop mistaking the country for a freezer-based supermarket – but OK, let’s talk about pizza.

The president’s reply, the Metro reports, was that he “hates Hawaiian pizza so much that he’d ban pineapple on pizza if he was able to make and pass laws on his own.”

WHAT.

Thankfully, no man is a government (no, not even that one) and Jóhannesson alone does not have the power to ban pineapple pizzas. Plus he’d probably have a revolt on his hands if he did, at least in student union cafés.

As Icelandic speakers might say, “this shit is ananas.” [Metro]
