Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Making Star Wars has a report on what is part of Finn’s major storyline in the movie, which will see the young man infiltrate a new First Order Super Star Destroyer — described intimidatingly as a huge “triangle-shaped wedge… solid, and dark” — disguised in a First Order officer’s uniform.
The site also reports that as part of his infiltration, Finn will encounter a former fellow Stormtrooper friend from his days as FN-2187. This rather clueless Stormtrooper is purportedly Tom Hardy’s long-rumoured cameo in the film, and will purportedly — I’m not joking — slap Finn on the butt to congratulate him on his promotion to the officer ranks following the events on Starkiller Base. Read a bit more at the link above, but as ever, take details like this with a pinch of salt for now.
BioShock
Gore Verbinski discussed his defunct adaptation of the video game series — and the slim glimmer of hope it could ever be revived — in a recent Reddit AMA promoting A Cure for Wellness:
Well it’s no short answer to that question but we were eight weeks prior shooting when the plug was pulled. It’s an R rated movie. I wanted to keep it R rated, I felt like that would be appropriate, and it’s an expensive movie. It’s a massive world we’re creating and it’s not a world we can simply go to locations to shoot. ‘A Cure For Wellness,’ we were able to really utilise a variety of location to create the world. ‘BioShock’ it wouldn’t work like that, we’d be building an entire underworld universe. So I think the combination of the price tag and the rating, Universal just didn’t feel comfortable ultimately. At that time also there were some R rated, expensive R rated movies that were not working. So I think things have changed and maybe there will be another chance, but it’s very difficult when you’re eight weeks away from shooting a movie you really can see in your head and you’ve almost filmed the entire thing, so emotionally you’re right at that transition from architect to becoming a contractor and that will be a difficult place to get back to.
Avengers: Infinity War
In a special feature on the forthcoming DVD/Blu-ray of Doctor Strange, writer Stephen McFeely talks about Thanos’ motives in the film:
His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal.
Kong: Skull Island
Unsurprisingly perhaps, there’s going to be a post-credits sequence. What other giant monster could that possibly herald, I wonder?

Black Lightning
The latest episode of The Hashtag Show has revealed three casting calls for the series, including the titular hero and his two daughters. It does match up with those recent details we heard about the show:
“JEFFERSON PIERCE: “Male, African-American, late 30s to 50. Handsome, fit, with an athletic build. Former 3-time gold medal decathlon winner who is now principal of a high school in South Central Los Angeles. A father figure to his student and hero to the local community. JEFFERSON is charming, charismatic, smart, and has both warmth and humour. He is devoted to his two daughters and remains deeply in love with his ex-wife LYNN. He also has a great passion for justice and a quick temper that he has spent years learning how to control. Think Idris Elba. LEAD.
JENNIFER: Female. African-American, LEGAL 18 to play 16. JEFFERSON’s younger daughter. JENNIFER is a scholar athlete; beautiful with a lean, athletic runner’s build. She is the entitled feminist of the Pierce family. Independent and outspoken with a wild streak. SERIES REGUALR, ASP.
ANISSA: Female. African-American, to play 22. JEFFERSON’s elder daughter. Beautiful, quick-witted and intelligent; intense and passionate. ANISSA has a great respect for her father.
