First Look At Bright, The Police Drama Starring Will Smith, Orcs And Magic

Video: If you tuned out of the teaser for Bright after a few seconds, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was just another gritty police drama starring Will Smith. You have to keep watching to understand just how weird the movie really is.

To us, this movie will forever be known as Orc Cops because Will Smith plays Scott Ward, a human, partnered with the first orc police officer Nick Jakoby (Joel Edgerton). Once you’ve started singing, “Orc cops, orc cops, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?” it will be impossible to think of the song and the movie as anything else.

But wait! There’s more! The script comes from Max Landis (Chronicle, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) and David Ayer (Suicide Squad), who is also directing. And the plot revolves around various evildoers trying to get a powerful magic wand. You know, like happens in most cop films.

So please enjoy this teaser for Bright, which puts all of those things on display to the tune of “This Land Is Your Land”.

Bright comes to Netflix later this year.
