Wesley Snipes Has Written A Supernatural Thriller About Holy Warriors

Movie star, Twitter hero, martial artist, former tax evader and snappy dresser Wesley Snipes now has another notch on his belt: His debut novel, Talon of God, just landed a publisher and a release date. The book is described as a supernatural thriller which Snipes hopes will have big-screen potential.

Snipes spoke to Deadline about the book, which he co-wrote with Ray Norman. It’s about a young doctor named Lauren, the daughter of a Baptist minister, who reluctantly becomes drawn into a battle between spiritual warriors representing Heaven and Hell on Earth. As you might guess, faith is a big theme, according to Snipes:

There are spiritual questions. Are there demonic forces in the world that manipulate us into doing things that are not in our best interests or into accepting conditions that are not in our best interests? The human mind is pretty intriguing, why we do some of the things we do.

But it won’t be all philosophy. It sounds like Lauren, who Snipes describes as “a strong female lead”, will get some arse-kicking action scenes. Talon of God — named for its other lead character, a warrior named Talon Hunter — also has “an urban element, a hip-hop element, supernatural elements” and some cinematic elements, too, taking cues from The Devils Advocate, Constantine and Snipes’ own vampire saga Blade. It’s due from Harper Voyager in July 2017.
