There’s One Big Problem With Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman/Star Wars Mashup Video

Zack Snyder has never made it a secret that he’s a Star Wars fan. During production on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he and Star Wars director J.J. Abrams would exchange fun photos on social media, mashing up the DC and Star Wars universes. But Snyder just took it to another level.

On the new social media app Vero, Snyder posted a trailer that mashes up his film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with Star Wars. The result is something he calls Dark Side Knight v Superjedi: Dawn of the Alliance, which just kind of rolls off the tongue. Unfortunately if you want you view it, you’re going to have to download the app Vero.

Here are some stills via Twitter.

In the Vero app, Snyder writes the following:

In anticipation of Rogue One, I wanted to share a little Star Wars fan film I made after J.J. released his Hunka Junk mash-up… long overdue.

“Hunka Junk” refers to the video linked here.

I mean, I like the idea of this. And there are some really nice effects shots in that trailer. But the trailer suffers the same problem as that original Batman v Superman teaser did: It’s just kind of boring. And something that mashes up Batman, Superman and Star Wars should not be boring.

Then again, it makes more sense because Snyder cut this some two years ago, long before audiences saw either Batman v Superman or The Force Awakens.

Anyway, the video was posted to get people interested in Vero, and it will certainly do that.
