Microsoft Has Alienware Laptops For Stupid Cheap

Alienware’s funky-lookin’ laptops may look cool and play games good, but we’ve agreed in the past that they’re generally a little bit too expensive for what you’re getting. Microsoft’s daily Christmas deal for today, though, knocks $1000 off the price of this 15-inch Alienware notebook. Why? Because it’s about to be replaced by a new model.

The specs of this last-gen Alienware 15 are still pretty reasonable if you’re looking for a mainstream and relatively portable gaming laptop. Quad-core Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, a fast 256GB SSD and 1TB hard drive, 16GB of RAM, and a mid-weight Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics card. You’re definitely not going to be able to play games at the Alienware 15’s 4K native resolution, but you can still put that to good use with some 4K Amazon or YouTube or Netflix streaming.

The reason it’s $1000 off is that the Alienware 15 and other 13- and 17-inch laptops in that line are about to get a refresh with Nvidia’s newest graphics cards in coming weeks. But that doesn’t mean this one is bad at all. And, of course, it’s a Signature Edition machine, which means that it’s free of unnecessary bloatware and system-slowing crap. For $2499, it seems pretty decent. Why not? [Microsoft Store]
