KickassTorrents Is Back With Its Original Admin Team

Hot on the heels of Village Roadshow’s recent legal shenanigans, the once massive torrent site KickassTorrents has come back online. Rather than a copycat (or malware-infested honeypot), this site reportedly has the original team behind it, though they’ve had to start from scratch in terms of content.

According to TorrentFreak’s Ernesto, who spoke to the people behind the new site, the “majority” of Kickass’ “staff, admins and moderation team” are in driver’s seat.

So that’s the good news. The bad news is (ignoring the fact Australian ISPs may be forced to block access to the site), it’s been so overwhelmed with traffic it might as well be down.

However, the outage should be temporary. Says KickassTorrents:

“We’ve had a massive response from the torrent community! Unfortunately, the servers are having difficulty balancing the load of the absolutely huge amount of users on line at the same time. Tech are on it and will no doubt have it sorted out as soon as possible.”

At the time of writing, the site was still out of commission, so it might be best to give it a day or two before bombarding it with your browser.
