Westpac Could Have Android Pay Before The End Of 2016: Report

While Android Pay /”launched/” in Australia a few months ago, it wasn’t a particularly big premiere, with only one of the four major banks on board for the debut. That number might increase to two before 2016 concludes, with support from Westpac reportedly near.

Ausdroid’s Duncan Jaffrey writes that Westpac is “entering the final preparations” for getting Android Pay up and running, according to sources.

If all goes to plan, Westpac should have Android Pay for credit and debit cards within the next two months.

Yes, we’re firmly in rumour territory. However, Ausdroid’s sources turned out to be accurate about ANZ being the Android Pay lone wolf among the top four, which lends this tidbit more weight.

That’ll leave just NAB and Commonwealth to get their acts together.
