Some of you may not be aware of this, but Porsche has apparently made a model called the 911 R. It is a car that some would say is quite adequate if you like that kind of thing. Top Gear’s Matt LeBlanc shares his thoughts on the new “fancy Beetle.”
In all seriousness, the Porsche 911 R is arguably the best 911 in the lineup that you probably can’t buy. It has a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated motor making 500 horsepower, powering only the rear wheels, which is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox. However, the spec sheet doesn’t quite reveal the full picture of the car.
Pretty much everyone who has had the pleasure of getting behind the wheel of the 911 R has been smitten. Matt LeBlanc had some reservations, but is quickly won over by the pure experience. However, he thinks a faster, less expensive Porsche could be better in certain circumstances.
