Monsters probably outnumber everyone else on Twitter at this point, Sesame Street.
This tweet was actually meant to promote the official accounts of Sesame Street characters, judging by the follow up tweet:
A few of them! @Elmo, @Grover, and @MeCookieMonster. And a @BigBird too (but he’s not a monster). And some of their friends! https://t.co/gzBehktUgO
— Sesame Street (@sesamestreet) November 16, 2016
But there is no way the person who sent this out didn’t know what kind of reaction they’d get to that very open question. If you scroll through the responses to that tweet there seems to be something of a theme. An orange, president-elect kid of theme.
However, Grover’s tweetstorm (a phrase he reveals he does not like) was a great little tribute to There’s a Monster at the End of This Book, which turned 45 this year:
WHAT DID THAT SAY? https://t.co/DhtQKZKCI6
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
IT DID?
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
I better log off.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
HEY, STOP RETWEETING ME SO I CAN LOG OFF OKAY? Because there is a MONSTER on Twitter! It is not safe!
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
Listen, I have an idea.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
If we all stop tweeting, we will never get to the end of this – what do you call it, a “tweet” “storm”? What a silly name.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
And that is a good thing because there is MONSTER at the end of it.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
AAAAAAAAAAAAH @WILW WHY ARE YOU RETWEETING ME!?!!?
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
You. Do. Not. Know. What. You. Are. Doing. To. Me.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
Now… stop retweeting, okay?
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
Okay, this tweet storm is over. Where’s this monster? I’m the only one here.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
Well then, it looks like I, furry, adorable, lovable old (and cute, too!) Grover, am the MONSTER at the end of these tweets.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
And YOU were so scared.
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
(Oh, I am so embarrassed…)
— Grover (@Grover) November 16, 2016
So is America, Grover. So is America.
