Nightmares Lurk Inside A Furby Connect

Nightmares Lurk Inside A Furby Connect

Furby’s were the hottest toy of the Christmas season back in 1996. Now, there’s a new edition that updates the strange little creature with modern tech for modern kids. Nothing prepared me for what this thing would look like while it is being cut in half by a water jet.

The summary on this video says “These are very advanced smart toys that may creep some people out.” OK, sure. But when the 2016 edition’s colourful eyes — featuring 150 different animations — go dark and liquid begins to stream out, things get uncomfortable. Black goo gushes from its tiny little beak and its eyelids grow heavy. Say the famous Blade Runner monologue in your head while it happens:

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Goodnight little Furby. He never whimpered and he never quit. Then he was dead.
