Celebrate Doctor Who’s 53rd Birthday By Watching Its Lead Character Die 13 Times

Video: I mean, that is how you celebrate birthdays, right?

Doctor Who first aired 53 years ago, at 5:16PM on the evening of 23 November 1963, and to mark the occasion, the BBC has whipped up a quick montage of every regeneration the Doctor has gone through so far in his more than half-a-century on our screens.

It has the actual regenerations for each Doctor up to Peter Capaldi — including John Hurt’s War Doctor, and even that one time David Tennant almost but not really regenerated in “The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End”, so it’s pretty complete in terms of every time the Doctor has basically faced truly fatal peril.

Bit morbid for a birthday celebration though.
