Are The Main Star Wars Movies Not Done With Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Star Wars

Speaking on a recent episode of the Rebel Force Radio podcast, EW reporter Anthony Breznican discussed the recent news of the scrapped Boba Fett anthology film, and offered an intriguing reason as to why we haven’t heard anything about the other long-rumoured anthology movie, focusing on the post-prequels life of Obi-Wan Kenobi:

I have heard rumours that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the Saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan [solo film] happen beyond Episode IX.

There were equally lengthy rumours that a bi-racial granddaughter of Kenobi would be a major cast member in The Force Awakens, and many bizarre theories that Rey could eventually be revealed to be related to him in some manner. These new rumours may not be any more valid than the last ones, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Star Wars: Episode VIII

Meanwhile, speaking of Star Wars, the internet is aflutter over a supposed scoop from YouTuber Mike Zeroh, who claims to have learned a single line of dialogue uttered by Luke Skywalker in the movie — one that will allegedly appear in the first teaser trailer for Episode VIII. The line, probably delivered to Rey, is, “You contain the spark that will rekindle the fire.” You should probably take it with the same salt pinch you’re using for the Obi-Wan rumours.

Jurassic World 2

Cinemablend asked executive producer Frank Marshall if we could expect to see B.D. Wong return for the sequel. “Probably” was his response:

When they take off in helicopters, you know they’re probably going to come back.

Chappie 2

Neill Blomkamp is *very* insistent that a sequel to the movie will not happen.

Chaos Walking

Tom Holland has been cast in the adaptation of the Patrick Ness YA novel, in which a germ has killed all women on Earth — except, apparently, Daisy Ridley.

The story takes place in a world where all women have been killed by a germ and all living creatures can hear one another’s thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise.

Holland would star as a boy forced to flee his town with his loyal dog and who comes upon a strange sight: a girl (Ridley).

Power Rangers

The movie has released a few new promo images of Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa as part of a “Twitter takeover” by the character. As a major Power Rangers fan, every part of this makes my soul die.

Passengers

Jim and Aurora go on a date in a new clip from the film.

Logan

Logan’s looking glum in the latest teaser image from the set. Just imagine Johnny Cash playing in the background for each and every one of these pictures and you’ll be fine.
