The First Teaser For Netflix’s Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events Is Meta And Macabre

Netflix just announced that their adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events will come to the streaming platform on January 13. To break the news, they released a rather meta teaser trailer featuring none other than Mr Snickett himself, who begs you not to watch the show based on his works… for your own sake.

A book cover from Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The voice in the background at the end would be Count Olaf, played by Neil Patrick Harris, by the way.

Based on the book series by Daniel Handler, the Lemony Snicket series follows a group of kids who lose their parents in an accident and are adopted by the evil Count, who wants to get rid of them to inherit their money. The adventures of the kids are then documented by the title character, here played by Patrick Warburton.

While I like this teaser a lot, it tells us almost nothing about the show itself. The level of talent involved gives us hope, though, and we’ll definitely be checking it out come January 13.
