Boeing’s Online Store Has Amazing Furniture Made From Plane Parts

I had no idea Boeing had an online store. Alright, it probably has some portal for airlines for sorting big ticket purchases (you know, planes), but for the more well-off consumer, it’s easily the coolest furniture retailer in existence. Don’t believe me? Let’s examine the catalogue.

Want a coffee table made from the engine spinner of a B-52 Stratofortress? Boeing has you covered.

How about something classier, like a leather chair? The store is happy to provide this one, built from a McDonnell Douglas DC-9 engine cowling.

OK, OK, you’re not convinced by any of this reworked gear. No problems, have an ejection seat from a F-4 Phantom II.

Now for the bad news. None of these pieces come cheap. The ejection seat for instance is $US19,500. Even the B-52 table is a whopping $US8500. Let’s not even talk about shipping.

My favourite detail? The disclaimer attached to the product descriptions:

*NOTE: This artifact is sold “as is” with no guarantee that parts maintain original function. Not for flight use.*

Yep, I’m pretty sure not even MacGyver could transform any of these into a serviceable aircraft. Then again…
