Apple Delays AirPods

Apple Delays AirPods

Back in September, Apple promised us that AirPods would be released at the end of October. Well, it’s the end of October. Where the hell are our AirPods? Not in your ears, that’s for sure.

According to TechCrunch, Apple says it needs a “little more time” to get the AirPods right. As a result, the little wireless earbuds won’t make the October shipping date.

Apple told TechCrunch:

The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don’t believe in shipping a product before it’s ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers.

No date was given as to when the AirPods will start shipping.

This is a total bummer. I’ve been using a pre-production version of AirPods since mid-September, and I have to say, as truly wireless earbuds go, the AirPods are solid. Their battery life is great, sound quality is better than you’d expect and they pair very easily with your iPhone. Sure, they look a little dorky, but no company has really managed to nail the “look” of wireless earbuds quite yet.

We reached out to Apple for clarification on timing, but had not received a response at time of writing.
