Ryan Potter Wants To Play Robin So Badly He Made Ben Affleck A Fight Scene

Big Hero 6 actor Ryan Potter really wants to play Tim Drake/Robin in Ben Affleck’s new solo Batman film, so he made a short flick showing Ben exactly what he can do.

Potter, best known for voicing Hiro in the Disney animated film Big Hero 6 and starring in Supah Ninjas, created a concept fight scene as Tim Drake/Robin. It’s pretty impressive, showing Potter’s skills as a trained martial artist.

After the fight sequence is over, Potter sits down in front of the camera and directly asks Affleck to consider him for the role of Robin.

“Hey Ben, like Tim said, Batman needs a Robin,” Potter said.

Potter’s been open about his interest in playing the character, tweeting Ben Affleck directly last week that it would be great for an Asian-American actor to take on the iconic sidekick role. In fact, he’s actually been talking about taking up Robin’s mantle for over a year now, so it would be awesome to see it actually happen.

“That would be super cool to be able to play that. To see a different version — see an Asian-American Robin. Why not?” Potter told 411Mania in 2015. “Or maybe in a couple of years see a Nighthawk. But I don’t know. There really aren’t a lot of real Asian superheroes.”

Jason Todd’s Robin costume was seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it was defaced by the Joker, hinting that Jason is dead. (It was confirmed to be Jason Todd’s suit in a now-deleted video.) This likely means a new Robin will be coming on board. Looks like there’s a great one waiting in the wings, Ben.

You can watch the video below. The Batman solo flick is currently in development, and is set to come out in 2018 at the earliest.
