If — like us — you’ve been a bit turned off the big, glossy Sony stereos sitting in the centre of the dashboard of some Fords, your salvation is here. Ford has teamed up with esteemed Danish audio design house Bang & Olufsen — specifically the younger, freshier, funkier B&O Play — in a move that promises better sound in every single future Ford car.
The details are a bit light on the ground at the moment, but the big addition seems to be the fact that Harman — one of the biggest car audio brands in the world — will tune the speaker placement and audio signature of every new Ford, and that means “optimal sound in the cabin, regardless of where someone sits”.
That change won’t impact Ford’s Sync3 touchscreen interface, though, which is manufactured by Panasonic and will still be the central in-car experience for almost all Fords in the future.
