Video: Would you sink or float if you were tossed into a gigantic vat of squishy gelatinous spheres? Mark Rober, one of the Backyard Scientists, decided the only way to definitively answer the question that few have ever asked was to fill an entire pool with 25 million of the tiny spheres, and dive in.
Because the spheres are actually denser than water, Rober sank farther than he would have were the pool filled with just H2O, until his body weight had been fully displaced. It wasn’t as dangerous as jumping into quick sand, but he’s still probably going to regret the experiment when it comes to having to clean all this up.
