Tinder recently went to war with 3nder, an app designed to help users find some three-person fun. Tinder’s primary complaint was the similarity between the two names — 3nder, evidently, was just too close to Tinder. 3nder disputed this at the time, but now, in what appears to be an effort to duck the thorny legal issues, 3nder has rebranded as “Feeld”.

It’s slightly unclear what the name “Feeld” is intended to invoke — playing the field? A strange, grammatically incorrect form of “feel”? — but according to the app’s blog post, the new name is is all about growth, or something.
“3nder was built on love and passion, but my old name limited me. Now I am something more. My foundations are the same, my values unchanged, but I have grown. I expand and evolve just as you do, and it it time to reflect that growth,” the post explains. “I am the space for open minds. Minds that breath freedom.” (I highly recommend reading the whole thing.)
It’s not just a new name, however. Feeld is apparently dropping 3nder’s focus on threesomes, and will instead lean more toward sexual openness — it’s described as “a field for you to discover your sexuality and explore it by yourself, with your other half or with any human you’d like” where you can “explore love beyond societal norms”.
As for the name change and how it relates to the Tinder debacle, Feeld’s founder Dimo Trifonov told Broadly that the two weren’t necessarily related, and posited that it was part of the plan all along. He declined to comment on the legal troubles, but assured everyone that the new name was chosen with great care.
“You want to be as secure as possible so you can work on your dream,” he said. For those of you who fantasise of a cornucopia of threesomes, however, it looks like Tinder has all but neutered that dream.
