The world of He-Man and She-Ra has a lot of history, spanning decades of comics, cartoons and toys. But three new books coming from Dark Horse are planning to archive some of that history in stunning style, and we’ve got the first look.
First up, and due early next year, is He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Newspaper Comic Strips, a collection of the rare newspaper strips that continued He-Man’s story beyond the end of the animated series and the start of The New Adventures of He-Man that, until now, have never been reprinted:
That will be closely followed by He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: A Character Guide and World Compendium, providing an encyclopedic look at every character, creature, weapon and location in not just He-Man, but its spinoff series She-Ra, Princess of Power — beyond the shows and into all the other weird and wonderful details added to the universe since.
But that’s not all. If you can’t wait until next year for some archival Masters of the Universe goodness, this month sees the release of He-Man and She-Ra: A Complete Guide to the Classic Animated Adventures, a retrospective book that catalogues every episode of He-Man and She-Ra — over 220 in total — with details about the plots, behind-the-scenes character art and even the goofy moral included at the end of every episode — and we’ve got a first look inside, with these pages making their debut here.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: The Newspaper Comic Strips will hit shelves February 2017, while He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: A Character Guide and World Compendium will be out in the following May.
