Corbin Bernsen Will Be Vulcan In American Gods

Corbin Bernsen (Psych) has been cast as the god Vulcan (and not a member of the Star Trek species) in Bryan Fuller’s TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel.

Vulcan was the Roman god of fire and metalworking, who also shows up in stories as the husband of Venus (the result of the merging of Vulcan with the myths associated with his Greek equivalent, Haphaestus).

In American Gods, Vulcan has a weird position in the war between the old gods and the new. He’s been an ally of Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane in the show) for a long time, but as a god of building and making things, he’s doing much better in the modern world than most of the old gods.

Bernsen’s Vulcan is definitely going to show up, but there’s a chance that the character could become a recurring one.
