50 Cent Basically Wants To Make A Second Luke Cage TV Show

Rapper turned TV producer Curtis Jackson, AKA 50 Cent, has a new superhero TV show coming to Starz. It’s called Tomorrow, Today and it stars a hero that sounds almost exactly like Luke Cage, but is definitely not Luke Cage, since Netflix is premiering an actual Luke Cage TV series in just a couple of months.

According to TV Line, the superhero drama is based on a screenplay by Jackson himself. It “follows a war veteran from Chicago’s South Side who, after being falsely imprisoned, becomes the personal experiment of a mad prison doctor trying to create the perfect man — and an unstoppable killing machine. Set free but on the run, the veteran must reconcile with the world that has turned against him, and use his newfound abilities for good.”

Which, I mean, is basically Luke Cage. (He was also imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, and then volunteered to be a guinea pig in one of those countless experiments attempting to recreate Captain America’s Super-Soldier Serum, the result of which made him indestructible.) We’ll give 50 the benefit of the doubt, and presume there must be more to his show than he’s currently revealed.

“I knew Starz would be the perfect home for Tomorrow, Today,” Jackson said in a statement. “This project is very personal to me — creating it, writing it, finding the best team for it, and I will continue to be involved every step of the way.”

Jackson will be joined as an executive produced by Bates Motel‘s Anthony Cipriano, Dan Kay and Kirkland Morris. The project currently doesn’t have a timeline, but Marvel and Netflix’s Luke Cage debuts this September.
