Pozible is building a new tool for independent film creators to distribute their crowdfunded films.
“Screen Connect” allows you to distribute your Pozible-funded finished film straight from your crowdfunding page — allowing supporters and fans to rent, buy or screen publicly.
Pozible says the site has “championed the efforts of independent screen creators and producers” since launching in 2010. To date, there have been over 2000 film projects launched on the platform, and just under $7 million ($6,980,688) raised for film and screen projects.
Creators and fans will also be able to embed the content on their own website, and generate new revenue for the content creators, as well as also receiving a small fee for every view they host.
Aaron Wilson, the director of Canopy says “In a marketplace flooded with cinema and TV content, I see Pozible’s Screen Connect as a powerful friend for filmmakers who seek a stronger connection with audiences”.
Screen Connect is an exciting new initiative that is supported through Screen Australia’s Enterprise Industry program, which encourages ambitious business initiatives for financing, producing and distributing Australian screen content. Screen Connect aims to build incentivised crowd distribution globally.
The Screen Connect model is engineered to make sure 70 to 90 per cent of distribution funds are recouped directly by the owners of the content, as well as being a tool for them to distribute their own content and reach their audiences directly.
While the service is yet to be released, you can keep updated on Screen Connect here.
