Fans of Hajime Isayama’s smash hit manga, and the wildly successful anime that it spawned in 2014, have been waiting for the show’s return to TV for over two years now — they have had to make do with movies, spinoff short series and even baby-fied versions of Eren and the crew. But the wait for season two is nearly over.
Originally announced in 2014 for a 2016 release, a recent listing from a Spanish distributor of the show put the highly anticipated second season as coming out in 2017, and that’s now been confirmed. Unveiled at an event featuring the show’s voice cast in Japan yesterday, Attack on Titan season two will air in Japan in spring next year – so autumn in Australia. To celebrate, a new poster for the show was released, featuring protagonist Eren Yaeger in his Titan form, going up against the ginormous Colossal Titan.

“Autumn 2017” is still pretty damn nebulous, but it’s the closest fans have had to a release date for the highly anticipated second season so far. Lets hope a solid date is narrowed down soon, and the waiting can begin in earnest… well, even more than it’s been in earnest for the past two years now.
