Video: There’s a lot in Heather Jacks’ “Let’s Not Panic” that we’ve seen before, but it’s been arranged in such a fun way that it does not matter.
From the framing device of the therapist’s office to the neurotic neighbour to the asteroid hurtling toward New York, “Let’s Not Panic” uses a lot of common tropes. Even the way they’re turned on their head in the end isn’t particularly new. But the charm of it all is in the performances, particularly from Lyle Friedman as Sadie, and the short film format is at its best here, where nothing which could be twee or annoying outstays its welcome. It’s fun, funny, and fast.
