Sony announced today that its Xperia Z5 Premium will be an Optus exclusive.
The Xperia Z5 Premium scores the bragging right of being the world’s first 4K smartphone. Other stand-out features include a “completely reimagined” 23MP camera that uses Sony’s Alpha camera technology (that lets you capture moments at a speed of 0.033 seconds), PS4 Remote Play compatibility and a ridiculous two-day battery life.
“Sony continues to bring advanced innovation and technology to the smartphone industry, and with the Z5 Premium, Australians can enjoy the best possible viewing experience on the go with its spectacular 4K display,” said John Featherstone, Sony Mobile Communications Head of Business Development for APAC and Market Head for Oceania.
With a 4K Ultra HD display, this 5.5-inch smartphone packs in four times the resolution of a Full HD TV for what Sony calls “an unrivalled viewing experience”.
The Xperia Z5 Premium has water and dust protection (IP65/68 rating), a fingerprint sensor on the side of the phone, and an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marrshmallow is expected by the end of the month.
One thing I’m definitely keen to test out is the PS4 Remote Play. You can access your PS4 games on your phone, and keep playing in any room of your house over WiFi. A full list of which games are compatable hasn’t been released as yet, but we will keep you updated.
Optus is offering the Xperia Z5 Premium in black for $0 on its $80 “My Plan Plus” plans.
