LulzBot Releases New Improved Self-Levelling, Self-Cleaning 3D Printer

With 3D printers moving further into the mainstream, companies are pushing to make their printers easier to use and more accessible for first-time buyers. LulzBot’s latest offering has added a whole bunch of new features into the TAZ 6 which make it easier to use — such as a self-levelling bed, self cleaning and support for even more types of filament material.

The LulzBot TAZ 6 features a modular tool head design for more flexibility in printing options, and is built with an open filament format, compatible with a number of different materials including PLA, HIPS, ABS, PET, Amphora co-polyester, nylon, polycarbonate and even wood and metal composites.

“After tens of thousands of hours of testing and feedback, we are excited to be releasing the best LulzBot 3D printer to-date,” Jeff Moe, CEO and President of Aleph Objects said. “We remain committed as ever to respecting user freedom and are proud that the new LulzBot TAZ 6 received the prestigious Respects Your Freedom Certification from the Free Software Foundation.”

The TAZ 6 sees a number of community-driven upgrades from its predecessors, including a fully integrated power supply, improved firmware, more reliable components and improved heat sink and print cooling.

The US-built TAZ 6 retails for $US2500 ($3470) from LulzBot’s website and from resellers, though Australian LulzBot reseller Umart Online doesn’t seem to have it listed as yet. Each printer comes with one year of live phone and email tech support, available seven days a week.
