Are There Already Plans For A Fourth Star Trek Film?

Kit Harington talks Game of Thrones. James Wan denies those Aquaman rumours. Arrow‘s heading to the home city of a major comic book hero. Apocalypse undergoes some power changes in new X-Men Apocalypse clips. Plus Star Trek TV filming and new Star Wars Episode VIII set pictures. Behold, spoilers!

Star Trek 4

TrekMovie reports that Paramount has already begun registering the name ‘Star Trek 4‘ with the MPAA. While they note that it’s not a necessary guarantee that the movie will ever happen — it’s more of a safeguard for the future than anything else — it suggests a confidence in the success of Star Trek Beyond that seemingly far outweighs anything we’ve seen from Paramount so far.

Aquaman

James Wan responded to rumours developing over the weekend about his exit from the film, seemingly confirming that that is not the case.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Bryan Singer sets up the conflict between Xavier and Apocalypse:

[Apocalypse is] kind of the opposite of Christ, actually. Christ would have come years after him, by the way. Our premise is he stomped around ancient Egypt, and that’s when he is buried and awakens in 1983. He’s kind of more the God of the Old Testament, the vengeful God who wants the world in a certain order and wants to be worshipped — but he’s also forgiving. He’s also a false god, which makes him kind of like a cult leader. So [Apocalypse actor Oscar Isaac] and [writer/producer Simon Kinberg] not only studied religion but also studied the nature of cults and how they function. And that helped inform us how he chooses his Four Horsemen.

I’ve gotten to explore Professor X when he was an older, bald, wise man, when he’s insecure, when he’s defenseless, when he’s powerful. He’s more of a Christ figure. He chooses to be a teacher. He could go inside Cerebro and rule the world, but he chooses not to. He chooses to teach and preach and hope that people follow his message: peace and unity.

Strange rumour debunking ahoy: gossip site Gossip Cop has seemingly confirmed (via a representative of Taylor Swift) that Swift is not in the film, and she is most definitely not playing mutant/pop idol Dazzler.

Here’s a new featurette detailing Apocalypse’s new powerset in the movie.

Star Wars: Episode VIII

A few new pictures of the constructed sets recreating the first Jedi Temple on Ach-To have hit the web.

Captain America: Civil War

Here is yet another TV spot!

Meanwhile, Captain America faces the Winter Soldier in a new clip.

Game of Thrones

Kit Harington has a message for fans following his “shocking” return to the show in its most recent episode:

I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a, similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.

Meanwhile, he teases that the revived Jon has a lot on his plate in the rest of the season:

It’s a massive season for him, it’s the biggest season for him so far, he features very prominently this season. I was told that when I was told I was coming back — that the season I was coming back for would be my biggest, and that’s quite a lot to take as well.

Star Trek (TV Show)

The new show will film in Toronto in autumn of this year.

The Flash

Carlos Valdes is full of praise for Kevin Smith’s direction on the show:

I had no expectations and literally no idea what to expect, and he came on board and it was the best directing experience that I’ve had on the show, personally. He killed it, knocked it out of the park, man. He was so giving as a director, so trusting. He essentially allowed so many of the people working on the show to have the freedom to tell this story the way that they knew how. We’ve been telling this story and living with these characters for two years now, so we know this show pretty well.

Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow

The new episode of DC All Access has two intriguing tidbits for the shows. First up, this week’s of Arrow will see Oliver head to Hub City to “learn from an ally of Constantine’s” — Hub City being the comic book home location of vigilante hero The Question.

Meanwhile, an upcoming episode of Legends will feature an homage to longtime DC comics writer Dan Jurgen, who created time-travelling hero Booster Gold (and myriad other DC characters).
