A screenwriter getting their characters to show what writing is like, is like a — A bad simile? Ugh.
Few things suck quite as much as writer’s block. It’s like brain constipation, and no amount of coffee, alcohol, walking around or finger drumming is going to fix it. Probably no stranger to the feeling himself, editor Ben Watts compiled 50 of the best films featuring a fight with the blank page, with a soundtrack brilliantly re-edited to include the rhythmic clacking of typewriter keys.
It’s not all groaning and hand wringing though! As the video goes on, the words start to write themselves, and watching these characters overcome their self-expression issue is ultimately inspiring.
