The Robot From Ex Machina Is Your New Lara Croft

The Robot From Ex Machina Is Your New Lara Croft

The reboot of the Tomb Raider movie series, based on the iconic gaming franchise, has found its new Lara Croft: Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, perhaps best know for her roles in The Danish Girl and as the android Ava in Ex Machina.

Vikander may come as a surprise to some, as The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley has been heavily hinted to nab the role in the upcoming reboot, which will be directed by Norwegian director Roar Uthaug. There’s not much detail on the film, other than it’s believed to be inspired by the game franchise’s own recent reboot in 2013, which depicts Lara in her younger years as she evolves from keen archaeological student to daring, tomb-plundering hero.

Tomb Raider has no scheduled release date, but is rumoured to be arriving late 2017.
