With Tesla Motors starting its ramp up to the launch of the Model 3 electric car, the company needs more stores and showrooms around the world to deal with an influx of new and returning customers. The third store location for Australia has just been unveiled — and it’s in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

The store, at 20 Martin Place, will be a two-level showroom that will house all of Tesla’s cars — both the Model S and likely the Model X by the time the store is opened, and eventually the Model 3. The store will open in the third quarter of this year.
Like other stores at Artarmon on Sydney’s north shore and Richmond in Melbourne’s south-east, the Martin Place store will also let customers design and order cars, as well as take test drives. In its announcement of the store location, Tesla was also quick to point out that its stores are all owned by the company rather than being franchised, “meaning that any customer visiting the new store will be dealing directly with a Tesla staff member”.
The store will be primarily for pedestrians rather than drive-in customers, so there won’t be any on-site Superchargers — but it’s a short drive from the Martin Place showroom to Tesla’s five-bay Supercharger station at the Star casino in Pyrmont.
