Could Thor: Ragnarok Really Be Tom Hiddleston’s Last Appearance As Loki?

Thor: Ragnarok

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Tom Hiddleston pondered his future playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s incarnation of Loki. The actor mentioned that Ragnarok was his “last” film as the character:

Thor 3 will be cool because I’ve not done it for four years. I love working with Chris [Hemsworth]. This will be my last time out of the gate.

But was equally quick to add that there’s always a chance that plans could be changed, and he could well show up in Infinity War:

I don’t know! Honestly, I don’t know. They haven’t got their ducks in a row yet. They make it up as they go along.

Downsizing

Kristen Wiig has replaced Reese Witherspoon as the female lead in this movie about a family that undergoes a shrinking process in order to live in a community of similarly tiny people. [Deadline]

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2

James Gunn says that his return for a third Guardians is not necessarily guaranteed:

Right now I really am just concerned with doing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I’m not sure what I’m going to do after this… Marvel has talked to me about continuing on. I’m not sure if that’s what I want to do or if that’s not what I want to do. I really just want to make Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 the greatest possible movie that I can, and something that’s as honest and sincere and true as it can possibly be.

Power Rangers

David Denman has joined the film as Sam Scott, the father of Jason Scott, the Red Ranger. [THR]

The New Mutants

Simon Kinberg offers an update on the status of the film:

Josh Boone and his writing partner are working on the script. They’re doing a really nice job of it, and it’s a really cool one, because in many ways, like Deadpool was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, New Mutants… It’s maybe not as different as Deadpool, but it has its own unique, original voice to it.

That’s the fun for me, working in the X-Men universe, creating these sort of standalone movies that have a different vibe to them. And New Mutants has more of a YA [Young Adult] vibe to it.

The Jungle Book

Baloo introduces himself to Mowgli in another new clip.

Suicide Squad

Here’s a new high-res still from the film’s recent trailer.

The Walking Dead

Andrew Lincoln hypes up Negan’s entrance in the season finale:

We’ve been talking about this guy for a long time. It’s probably the most important casting since Rick, really. Everybody needs a hero, but I think they probably need a really good baddie even more. Negan’s incredibly charismatic. In this deranged society, there is a kind of logic to the way that he is running the place. He runs a tight ship, I’ll tell you that much. I’m actually very impressed. I doff my cap to this man!

Arrow

John Barrowman teases the identity of whoever is lying in the grave that has been teased throughout the season:

I’m saying nothing. You are going to have to watch. We all didn’t know until recently. The storyline took us to a certain point and then all of a sudden, it was right in front of us on the page. We were all like, “Wow.”

Were you even close to guessing? The cast must have been going crazy wondering.

I was completely wrong. I had a theory and I was completely wrong. I thought it was something to do with a shift in time. This is my own personal theory as a fan because we didn’t know and we were talking amongst ourselves. I said, “Remember when I talk the Flash and Oliver into seeing Vandal Savage? The Flash had just come through a time jump? When he comes to the grave, it could be an alternate reality.” That was my theory. Completely wrong. So wrong. Here’s me treating it like it’s an episode from “Doctor Who.” Someone said to me, “Why would it be that?” “Listen, I have experience in time travel. I know we can do this.”

Game of Thrones

Carice Van Houten expounds on Melisandre’s crisis of faith over Stannis’ death going into the next season:

What the f — k is happening? She’s been on this mission and all of a sudden it makes no sense and her tricks didn’t work — the sacrifice of this girl didn’t work. But I think it’s slowly getting to her that she might have been slightly wrong about things, so that’s where we leave her in season five and that’s definitely where she starts off in season six.

The Flash

Kevin Smith has shared a new picture from the set of his episode, including a shot of his long time collaborator Jason Mewes in costume for his cameo appearance. Also included? Bonus commentary on Smith’s opinion about Batman v Superman.

Meta-Mewes! The folks at @cwtheflash were kind enough to include a cameo for my hetero life mate @jaymewes in the episode of #TheFlash I directed. As a longtime lover of everything that ever aired on @thecw, Jay was ecstatic to have scripted lines in one of his favorite shows (plus, he got to visit the @cw_arrow sets across the lot). But I also found an opportunity to sneak #jaymewes into another scene as well – this time as a masked super villain. And even though he had no lines as the Meta and is unrecognizable, THIS was the role that reduced him to tears. I’ve seen #JayMewes cry twice in my life: one time it was about the birth of his only begotten daughter, the other time was after he wrapped his super villain bit on #TheFlash. Jay gave me a huge hug and said “You made my dream come true, Moves.” You see, Jay never planned for @jayandsilentbob; while he certainly inspired the cinematic duo, it was never his dream to play Jay in the movies – it was just something that happened to him. But this boy LOVES his comic books – so much so that I’ve never heard him say he’s ever read a bad comic book (and I know for a fact he went deep on the I’ll-fated @marvel “New Universe” titles back in the day). He doesn’t dissect superhero material, he just consumes. Analyzing is for academics: Jay’s just there to see his heroes come to life. So to thank me for sneaking him into the @dccomics universe, Jay took me to see @batmanvsuperman again (my second time, his first). I liked the flick more on my second viewing (see 1 hour review on my #KevinSmith #youtube channel). I’d said the film didn’t have any heart, but after the second viewing, I actually found the heart in #batmanvsuperman: it’s in the viewer. And the viewer I watched the blockbuster with the second time was all agog, eyes as big as saucers. During the Knightmare sequence, we shared a moment that even elevated the flick for me: when the winged New Gods nasties attack #Batman and take him down, Jay (age 40) & I (age 45) simultaneously looked at one another and whispered reverently “ParaDemons.” It was a beautiful moment shared by two lifelong fanboys who were delighted to see their childhood flash before their eyes.
