Yesterday’s Civil War trailer has already given rise to crazy speculation about the Spider-Man movie. Some familiar faces are returning to The Flash and Arrow. The cast of Daredevil talks flipping the script on the show’s format. Plus, new Dark Tower casting, and more details on Sylvester Stallone in Guardians 2. Behold, spoilers!
The Flash/Aquaman
In an extensive feature for the Wall Street Journal, producer Charles Roven confirms that neither The Flash or Aquaman’s standalone movies will be origin stories for the heroes, the way Wonder Woman is — instead, they will be films that pick up where the characters were left off after the events of Justice League.
Spider-Man
Latino Review has some wild speculation, now that the Civil War trailer has confirmed that Spider-Man is, at least at some point, on Team Tony — and they claim that Stark builds Peter the new Spider-Man costume after meeting him in a low-rent costume (that inspires the “Underoos” nickname).
Apparently, just as he does in the Civil War comic, Spider-Man will flip sides and join Team Cap — essentially using Tony to get a shiny new super-suit, and then joining the side he really agrees with, which leaves Tony harboring a grudge… a grudge that simmers over into the Spider-Man movie, which will see Iron Man and Spider-Man duke it out (previously this has been rumoured as a ‘test’ for Peter Parker to join the Avengers). As ever with speculation and rumours like this, taking it with a pinch of salt is necessary.
