Sylvester Stallone May Have A Role To Play In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

You’ll have to wait a little longer for the new Star Trek show. Ben Affleck talks Batman v Superman and his solo Batman movie. Don’t expect to see Black Panther’s homeland in Civil War. Plus, what’s to come on Lucifer, Gotham and Sleepy Hollow and even more Iron Fist casting rumours. Spoilers now!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Take this with the necessary does of high skepticism it deserves, but On Location Vacations (!?) is reporting that Sylvester Stallone has been sighted at location filming in Atlanta for the Guardians sequel. According to the site, Stallone was also spotting in costume in a uniform that looked “a lot like Judge Dredd”, which, given the setting, could possibly be some form of Nova Corps armour.

Batman

Ben Affleck discusses the solo Batman movie that he’s been long rumoured to direct:

There’s definitely willingness and a will and a desire to make a Batman movie on the part of Warner Brothers. It’s in development, and right now I’m really focused on finishing Live By Night. That’s where my focus is, and I tend to be a one movie at a time guy. So, when I’m finished with this movie, I’ll then focus on my next movie and figure out what that will be.

Captain America: Civil War

Following the recent rumours about the film’s length, the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the film is in fact 147 minutes long. A whole extra minute longer than previously thought!

Joe Russo tells Nerdist that the film has huge ramifications for the wider Marvel universe:

There’s an intensity in this film. We dug deep to find motivations that were extremely personal and very emotional to the characters. It’s not for all characters because, like any fight, people take sides and some people have stronger motivations than others, and as the fight gets worse people drop out because they don’t have the stomach for it. We have a couple characters that go to the end and they go to the end pretty hard and pretty ugly.

While Chadwick Boseman tells them that Wakanda will not appear in the film:

I know you thought you were because of ‘Age of Ultron,’ but… it’s not happening.

Sharknado 4

Gary Busey has been cast as Tara Reid’s father in this, the fourth Sharknado movie. [Coming Soon]

Batman v Superman

Bruce Wayne might hate the guts out of Superman, but Ben Affleck says that Batman is really inspired by the superheroic presence of Wonder Woman — and even hints that her existence inspires him to hunt down more metahumans (and even inspire the creation of the Justice League?):

It inspires in him the idea that well, if there’s one of these kinds of people out there, then maybe there are in fact more. If there are more, then maybe that’s hopeful and also terrifying to him, because then they could make humans even more powerless — or they could serve on our side. You’ve got to remember that Batman is the world’s greatest detective, and if he suspects that there may be more, and if he suspects in particular that Diana may be somebody special, he gets inspired.

Henry Cavill talks about Superman’s psyche as a hero, going into the movie:

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s a survivor’s guilt. I mean, that’s a different kind of thing because he’s above the threat. I think the most difficult thing for him at this stage of the story is that he has just come to terms with the fact that he is really, really quite powerful and he hasn’t found any major vulnerabilities yet, and despite this, despite the enormous power that he has, he still cannot do everything, and he really struggles with that. It’s not just a quick, “OK, I get it. I can’t save everyone.” That takes a long time to work out.

Iron Fist

That Hashtag Show has even more rumours about the show, claiming that the series is looking to cast four comic book characters: Colleen Wing (a long time ally of Misty Knight and Danny Rand), Joy and Ward Meachum (a niece and uncle who hold Iron Fist responsible for the death of Joy’s father, who was actually assassinated by ninjas) and the Steel Serpent (a supervillain from K’un L’un and one of Iron Fist’s long time foes).

Star Trek (TV Series)

Speaking at the Deutsche Bank Media, Internet & Telecom Conference, CBS CEO Les Moonves says the network has a deal with Paramount that their new Star Trek show must air at least six months after the release of Star Trek Beyond:

When [CBS] split from Viacom ten years ago, January 1, 2006, one of the big sticking points, as you can imagine, was “Star Trek.” You know, we both wanted it. They said “It’s a movie!” and I said, “No, no, no, it’s a TV show.” Actually, we’re both right. So they kept the feature film rights, we kept the television rights; they have [“Star Trek Beyond”] coming out July 22. Our deal with them is that we had to wait six months after their film is launched so there wouldn’t be a confusion in the marketplace.

Given that Beyond currently has a late July release date, that puts the new show as airing in January 2017 at the very earliest.
