Seth Rogen And Evan Goldberg Could Be Making A Time-Travelling Where’s Wally? Movie

In their continued attempts to adapt things we were obsessed with as kids, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are in talks to produce a movie version of the wildly popular picture book series, Where’s Wally?

According to The Tracking Board, who first reported the story, early versions of this movie pitch “built upon the time-travelling element, where Waldo [Wally in Australia] accidentally activates a time machine and must find a way to get back to the love of his life, Wilma”. From there he “often appears in colourful, crowded scenes from the past, the present — even the future.”

MGM bought the rights to the picture puzzle series back in 2011 and have been working at the adaptation ever since. Several screenwriters have taken a crack at it since then, though — so there’s no way to know whether the latest draft, by writers Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, follows the same time-travelling idea.

Rogen and Goldberg have had great success turning crazy, niche obsessions into movies. They’re currently producing Preacher for AMC, plus a movie based on the cult hit The Room, and they’re even trying to turn the war between Sega and Nintendo in a film. Nevertheless with them on board there’s still no guarantee this happens. The fact that this idea is moving forward at all feels as madcap as a Where’s Wally puzzle.
