Robots Are Getting Really Good At Running

Video: First, we taught robots how to walk and keep their balance, even when we tried to push them over. Now we’re teaching them to run?!

AMBER, which stands for Advanced Mechanical Bipedal Experimental Robotics Lab, is located at the Georgia Institute of Technology. There, they’re working on figuring out how to best construct robots that can walk just like humans.

One of these robots is the DURUS-2D, which they have put through a whole bunch of paces and activities. It’s not a standalone unit – as you can see in the videos, it’s attached to supports, but it is a good demonstration on the motion that’s required to walk.
