Ian McShane drops some huge spoilers about his Game of Thrones character. A new High Rise redband trailer includes naked Tom Hiddleston. Plus new Civil War and Star Wars: Rogue One details! Also, familiar faces return to Wayward Pines, and good news for Agents of SHIELD fans. So many spoilers!
Batman v Superman
While revealing details about the film’s R-Rated “Ultimate Edition” being released on Blu-Ray, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Jena Malone’s character — who has been repeatedly rumoured as playing Barbara Gordon, the most iconic incarnation of Batgirl — has been cut from the film altogether, and will only appear in the home release of the movie.
Geoff Johns tells EW why Batman keeps the rather morbid Joker-tagged Robin suit in his Batcave:
You can extrapolate that if Batman kept his suit like that, it’s a reminder. He’s displayed the suit of a fallen ally, fallen friend in the center of the Batcave. It’s right there for a reason, and part of it is to fuel him to continue to do what he does.
Entertainment Weekly‘s extensive cover story for the movie has also revealed how the Flash makes his cameo appearance in the film — not necessarily as an extra hero, but as a vision to Batman in one of several dream sequences/nightmares Bruce and Clark have in the film. Snyder describes Flash’s presence as a “giant Easter egg” that he hopes will make fans debate whether it’s the “real” Flash bending time and space, or a hallucination dreamt up by Batman.
Captain America: Civil War
The L.A. Times has a description of a chase sequence shown to investors at a Disney stockholders meeting recently:
The clip started off with a car chase featuring a motorcycle and a black Audi SUV. The chase involved Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie). They pursued each other through a tunnel, which became engulfed in explosions generated by the skirmish.
Eventually, the characters emerged from the tunnel, only to be met by War Machine (Don Cheadle). It appeared as though he was on the scene to detain Captain America.
“Stand down now,” War Machine angrily told the captain. “Congratulations, Cap, you’re a criminal.”
Black Panther then intervened, baring his metal claws and ripping off his mask to reveal his identity.
Justice League
The same Entertainment Weekly report also sees Charles Roven confirm that Green Lantern is not in the movie — and likely won’t appear outside of his own movie, until Justice League Part 2:
Every beat of the movie is not yet worked out. So there’s the possibility that he may or may not be in Justice League 2. For now, we felt that we were introducing enough characters that the best possible place we could put Green Lantern is some introduction in Justice League 2, or barring that, a movie after.
Star Wars: Rogue One
Back to Disney’s stockholder meeting — this time /Film says that Bob Iger revealed several pictures from the film. Included were a black-armoured Stormtrooper, two AT-AT walkers with their side panels painted beige, and new photos of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, and Donnie Yen. Also shown was a very brief snippet of footage in a sizzle reel featuring Jones’ character standing on the boarding ramp of a small ship.
10 Cloverfield Lane
Here’s a new IMAX poster for the film. [Coming Soon]
High Rise
Here’s a new international Red Band trailer for the film — so, warning, it’s NSFW. Naked Tom Hiddleston and everything.
Game of Thrones
HBO might be trying to clamp down on Game of Thrones leaks, but apparently Ian McShane hasn’t got the message, once again talking up his role in the show. First, to BBC Breakfast, the actor reiterated that he is involved with bringing a dead character back to life:
I can give you one hint: My character is an ex-warrior who’s become a peacenik … I bring back a much-loved character everybody thinks is dead.
But the spoiler tour continued! This time, on BBC Radio 5, McShane went further — after mentioning once more that he resurrects a character, and given the asked if it was between the Hound and Jon Snow, McShane declared “It’s not the latter, it might be the former.” So if you’ve been missing the Hound, there could be some good news coming.
