Looks Like Iron Fist Could Be Appearing In Luke Cage After All

Teams Cap and Tony reveal why they chose their sides in Civil War. Ben McKenzie teases doom to come on Gotham. Gal Gadot talks the independence of Diana in Wonder Woman. Plus, Episode VIII set pictures, and a new look at the next episode of The Walking Dead. To me, my spoilers!

Captain America: Civil War

The Russos elucidate on the movies that influenced Civil War:

The movies we’ve been referencing a lot on this one are Se7en, weirdly. We like smashing genres into each other, so if you can find something that’s really idiosyncratic in respect to superhero genre and you can smoosh it into it you usually wind up with something fresh and different. Se7en, Fargo, just as far as we’re not making comparisons in terms of quality we’re just talking influences, The Godfather, because that’s a sprawling film with a lot of characters that tells very intricate stories. Each character has an arc.

Stephen McFeely discusses Bucky’s reaction to his past as the Winter Soldier:

It is implied that Hydra killed Howard Stark. I think we can say that. I think that’s all we know, for sure, is that they did that. Bucky killed a lot of people. That’s perhaps more important. When Bucky wakes up, or gets some semblance of his humanity back, if he were to get some semblance of his humanity back, how does he feel about the long list of kills on his record?

USA Today spoke to both sides of the conflict to see why each hero picks their side. On their report for Team Cap, Anthony Mackie says Falcon sides with Cap out of admiration:

He respects and admires Cap because Cap earned his rank as opposed to sitting in an office and just delegating orders.

Elizabeth Olsen says that Scarlet Witch is still grieving for her brother’s death, and that Cap’s team provides structure for her:

[She’s] figuring out her place and finding a family. She does have a few changes of points of view in this film.

Sebastian Stan says Steve is Bucky’s only hope:

Cap is his only shot at survival. It’s not like everyone’s high-fiving before going to war. There are still tensions.

… and Jeremy Renner says Hawkeye signs up simply because Cap was the first person to ask him (poor Clint):

Cap was the first guy who called. Let’s just get the job done so I can get home to the family.

Meanwhile in the Team Tony report, Don Cheadle says Rhodey is simply following orders:

Obviously, I can’t do anything that violates my oath but at the same time we’re dealing with things that haven’t ever been in the playbook.

Paul Bettany says the Vision is simply taking the most logical course of action:

The stronger you are, the more you invite challenge. Something has to rise to fill the vacuum.

Scarlett Johansson implies Natasha has a rather fatalist approach to it all:

Either we’re going to fight it and lose or we’re going to go with it and make it work. Regimes come and go but we have to pat the backs this time and shake hands and play nice.

Meanwhile the previously-neutral Black Panther sides with Tony after “tragedy” strikes his homeland of Wakanda.

Batman v Superman

Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican saw the whole film and took to Twitter to share some spoiler-free thoughts the other day:

Here’s a couple of battle-heavy TV spots.

Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot tells Glamour about the appeal of Wonder Woman’s independence and strength:

For ‘BvS’ it was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she’s not there because of a love story. She’s not there to serve someone else… She has so many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she’s a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence. She’s loving.

The Mummy

Annabelle Wallis is in talks to join the movie in an undisclosed role. [Deadline]

Star Wars Episode VIII

Here’s a handful of set pictures from location filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia — including what appears to be a sleek new version of the classic sandspeeder from A New Hope.

Luke Cage

Speaking on Collider’s Heroes podcast (the news comes at around 19:50 in the video below), Umberto Gonzalez claims that Finn Jones’ Danny Rand will appear in Luke Cage.

Gonzalez says that Danny (presumably not as Iron Fist) will appear in the 13th — and presumably final — episode of the season, and that Jones’ casting was revealed last week in an attempt to head off the news of his Luke Cage appearance. This was speculated back in January when Mike Colter teased that Danny Rand had already been cast, but it seems like a solid hint that the long-standing friendship between Cage and Rand will get represented in the show.

Time After Time

Genesis Rodriguez has been cast as the third lead in ABC’s time travel drama based on the life of the young H.G. Wells. Rodriguez will play Jane Walker, a museum curator who draws Wells’ attention in contemporary New York. [Deadline]

Scalped/Roadside Picnic

WGN America has ordered pilots for Native American graphic novel Scalped and the classic novel Roadside Picnic. Scalped is a crime drama set inside a Native American reservation, and the Roadside Picnic adaptation follows a man who scavenges artefacts left behind by aliens who visited our world. [The Wrap]

The Exorcist

Geena Davis has joined this TV pilot. According to TV Line she’ll play Angela Rance, a “regal and proud woman” struggling to stay positive and keep her faith, as her family suffers through hardship.

Gotham

Ben McKenzie teases the rest of the season:

This can’t work out well. It’s a tragedy, so everything is sort of doomed on a certain level. But redemption is around every corner as well, so that’s what we’re clinging to. At the end of the day, the heroes have to get up in the morning and fight off the evil once again.

Supergirl

A new synopsis and image for “Manhunter” has been released:

“Manhunter” — J’onn J’onzz reveals the details of meeting Kara and Alex’s father, Dr. Jeremiah Danvers (Dean Cain), and assuming Hank Henshaw’s identity. Also, Kara debates trusting someone new with her secret identity and Siobhan (Italia Ricci) plots against Kara, on SUPERGIRL.
