Lock Out Bug Forces Apple To Yank iOS 9.3 Update On Older Devices

It’s not every day you get locked out of your phone or tablet, but for Apple users still cruising along on less-than-new gadgets, the latest iOS update, 9.3, pretty much removed the “not” from that statement.

Apple decided to yank the update for older model devices, specifically the iPhone 5s and 4th gen iPads (and older), according to News.

Turns out 9.3 was locking users out of their devices, which understandably makes it difficult to enjoy any of the update’s new features.

Updating some iOS devices (iPhone 5s and earlier and iPad Air and earlier) to iOS 9.3 can require entering the Apple ID and password used to set up the device in order to complete the software update.

Fortunately, Apple hasn’t left affected users out to dry and provides guidance on its support site. It basically involves doing a log in / log out dance with your Apple / iCloud account, but looks straightforward enough.
