We’ve known ever since that he joined Doctor Who that Peter Capaldi isn’t just a fantastic actor and a Doctor Who fan, but also a delightful artist. So what happens when The Doctor himself gets to sketch, err, himself? You get this.
The beautiful image of The Twelfth Doctor skipping across a planet’s asteroid belt comes from a letter of appreciation Capaldi sent to Rachael Stott, the artist on Titan Comics’ Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor Adventures series, back in February. Stott briefly discussed getting fan mail from the man she draws for a living in an interview with Comic Book Resources, published today:
Even though my job is constantly awesome and ridiculous, that ranks very highly as one of the most awesome and ridiculous things to have happened to me.
To not only get a letter, but a beautiful painting off your hero? I think that’s a once in a lifetime experience. I’m incredibly lucky.
It’s downright adorable, isn’t it? But if you’re craving more Peter Capaldi drawing Doctor Who, last week the BBC released a 12-minute video of Peter talking about the Doctors he grew up with as a child — specifically William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker — while he sketched portraits of each of them. Check it out:
Peter Capaldi continues to amaze.
