First Trailer For Dead7, AKA Zombies Vs ’90s Boy Band Members Dressed As Cowboys

Video: Remember this Syfy original movie when it was announced at Comic-Con last year? I sure didn’t, which means I was delighted all over again when I watch this first trailer for the movie about second-tier members of ’90s boy bands fighting zombies in the post-zombie-apocalyptic wild west.

Dead7 stars: Nick Carter, A. J. McLean and Howie Dorough from the Backstreet Boys; Jeff Timmons from 98 Degrees; Joey Fatone and Chris Kirpatrick from *NSync; and Jacob Underwood, Trevor Penick, Dan Miller and Erik-Michael Estrasa from O-Town, which I’ve never heard of before but assume is an authentic ’90s boy band and not made up. Fascinatingly, the script for Dead7 was written by Nick Carter himself.

OK, sure, Nick Carter has never written a movie before, and there’s no reason to suspect he can. It’s also from The Asylum, the guys who make those minuscule budget rip-offs of major motion pictures (such as Transmorphers). It’s also a Syfy original movie, and we all know what that means.

But I’d like to stop and give some credit to everyone involved, because the premise is so damn silly I actually want to see it — just like I wanted to see the first Sharknado movie. These guys have been stepping up their entertainingly bad movie game in a big way. I, for one, appreciate it.

I’m genuinely looking forward to watching this thing, and I won’t even know any of the former boy band members (except maybe Joey Fatone, who has pierced my pop culture consciousness somehow). So well done, Nick Carter, Syfy and The Asylum. You guys are certainly doing something right.
