It could be that combining Tim Burton’s sensibility with weird children is just yielding the creepiest possible results, but the images we’re getting from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children are honestly terrifying.

The one above really feels like a group of kids have put together a party to go hunt the Most Dangerous Game in a forest. And if that wasn’t unsettling enough, here are the kids watching what I assume to be the video from The Ring:

Except, in this case, the film died in seven days, not the children.

Also, here’s Eva Green hefting a crossbow:

Now, based on the synopsis that came with the previous images, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is more meant to be about how these strange kids are misunderstood and outsiders but just like us, and one kid goes to visit the home because his grandfather was there and falls for the same girl his grandfather did (because of how time works differently on the island)… but these publicity photos are really stressing how creepy the kids are over the “they’re just like us” aspect. Which may be a bit of meta-commentary, but the film could not look more like a period horror film if it tried.
