Don’t Get Too Attached To The Heroes Of Legends Of Tomorrow

Zack Snyder says Superman can’t catch a break in Batman v Superman. Clark Gregg teases a dark path ahead for Coulson on Agents of SHIELD. Plus, Robbie Amell on more Agent Miller in X-Files, the Exorcist remake casts its stars, and awesome new posters for High Rise. Behold, spoilers!

Batman v Superman

Zack Snyder describes a bleak time for Superman, going into the movie:

Over the last two years he’s basically been Superman as pop culture would know him. He’s been righting wrongs, there have been floods, mines have collapsed, bridges have collapsed, churches have caught on fire. He’s basically been a hero.

When we find him, he’s been dealing with the everyday world of being a superhero, but there’s a paradigm shift happening, in that the unintended consequences of some of those rescues are starting to come into fruition. He’s starting to see that every action has a reaction. Like, if you’re just taking a cat out of a tree, you can’t touch anything or the arborists will say, ‘He damaged the tree branch when he got the cat down.’ Or, ‘The cat wasn’t neutered, so now there’s thousands of cats.’ There’s no winning any more for Superman.

Speaking to Premiere, Ben Affleck teases Jesse Eisenberg’s approach to Lex Luthor:

His Lex Luthor is reminiscent of [deceased Nirvana frontman] Kurt Cobain mixed with [Google co-founder] Larry Page. It’s great! It makes me laugh and celebrates the uniqueness of our billionaires.

And he teases that it’s actually Wonder Woman who gets the best fight scenes in the movie:

It’s very difficult not to fall into the ridiculous [when adapting Wonder Woman]. The border is extremely thin but she really doing well. The most impressive action sequences in the film are actually hers.

Legends of Tomorrow

Joseph David-Jones, who recently played future Green Arrow Connor Hawke on the show, says he’s open to returning — and may return, because the show is planning on rotating out its current team of heroes for new blood in the near future:

I know that a couple of the writers are trying to push to get me back in there, because they really do like what happened with the episode. I know that they’re trying to put me back in there but I don’t know what they’re going to come up with or what even is going to happen with Connor Hawke, but I know they have been talking about potential different outcomes of it because they are plan on cycling out some of the cast from the ship. So I don’t know what’s going to happen, or if that timeline is still set until they actually do go back to the past.

Agents of SHIELD

Clark Gregg teases a potentially troubled path for Coulson to take after he killed Ward in the climax of the midseason finale:

I don’t think he comes back with any easy answer. I think in the moment, it felt like the only course of action possible to him. I don’t think he’s going to know for some time if this was a terrible mistake that changes him and maybe turns him into a super-villain – it becomes, really, a show about a team run by a super-villain – or not.

Sense8

Bae Doo-na teases where the second season of the show will find Sun:

There will be even more globetrotting for Bae this year, as she will be filming season two in 16 cities, spending two weeks in each city until September.

But Bae was wary of giving too much away about Bak’s fate in season two.

“The directors are very cautious about spoilers,” said Bae. “Sun Pak, who was put in prison for taking her brother’s crime upon herself, will return stronger than ever in season two,” she added.

Game of Thrones

Paul Rattray has been cast as Harald Karstark in the show. Believed to be the TV equivalent of Harrion Karstark from the books, the character is the Lord of House Karstark’s northern stronghold (his father, Lord Rickard, got beheaded by Robb Stark in season three, prompting the Karstarks to rescind their support of the former King in the North). The X-Files

Robbie Amell says he’s open to returning to the show, and sheds some light on how he joined the series (which in turn reveals just how those rumours of an Einstein and Miller spinoff began in the first place):

When I auditioned for the role and booked it, they originally asked for a series regular contract. It wasn’t necessarily for a spinoff. It was just so they could lock in a contract, maybe for continuing the series with David and Gillian, or maybe for a spinoff. We didn’t know. I asked those questions. I asked, ‘How long it is going to be for? Where is it shooting? How many episodes? Who am I playing?’

At the time, I had only auditioned with a few pages of sides and knew nothing about the character. They just couldn’t answer any of the questions at the time. Lauren and I were both willing to walk away from it because you are signing your life away. Luckily, knock on wood, they came back with a recurring contract. As of right now, I’m under no contract for X-Files, but I had such a good time shooing it. The fanbase has been so overwhelming that I would gladly go back and do more with the right people.

The Exorcist

Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels have been cast as the headliners for Fox’s remake (based on William Blatty’s 1971 book, not the iconic movie version). The actors will play Fathers Thomas Ortega and Marcus Lang respectively, as they tackle a troubling case of demonic possession. [Deadline]

Legion

Finally, Katie Aselton has been cast in the Fox X-Men spinoff series. Aselton will play Amy, the sister of Dan Stevens’ lead character David Haller — who is actually the estranged son of Charles Xavier, unsure whether he has mindbending superpowers or if he is going insane. Entertainment Weekly describes Amy as a “practical older sister”, who “does her best to remain positive” in the wake of her brother’s tribulations.
