We’ve been pretty critical and dismissive of Disney’s seemingly non-stop need to remake every single one of their iconic animated films in live-action. And yet, with a single video, one of those upcoming remakes just got infinitely more exciting.
We’re talking about Bill Condon’s upcoming remake of Beauty and the Beast. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens are the lead characters, with plenty of huge names (Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline, Emma Thompson) rounding out the cast. And yes, this version of the film is also a musical, bringing back all of the songs that made Disney’s 1991 animated film a masterpiece.
One of the biggest surprises in the cast is Luke Evans, he of Hobbit and Fast and Furious 6 fame. Evans is playing the hilariously narcissistic Gaston in the film and on The Jonathan Ross Show, he got to perform his version of Gaston’s song. And it’s really good.
Making this clip even cooler is Evans is joined by Eddie the Eagle stars Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton. We knew the former could sing, but that the latter can too? It makes for a truly grin-inspiring clip that has us anxiously counting the minutes until March 17 of next year.
